Co-Author & Developer – CoCoMo! A Curriculum Planning Process for Integrating Content and Language Standards (in press)
In collaboration with Dr. Margo Gottlieb, John developed an innovative standards alignment process designed for teams of teachers, school leaders and administrators looking to enrich their use of standards in their work with language learners.
2011
Curriculum Developer and Instructor, Illinois Resource Center
John coordinated and developed the Dual Language Summer Institute (DUSI) a national professional development institute for teachers and administrators implementing Dual Language Programs.
2006
Organizer, Instructor & Tour Leader, Illinois Resource Center
John successfully co-organized and lead an excursion to Oaxaca, Mexico with the support of colleagues for 70 Illinois teachers to explore the rich diversity of language, culture and art of this southern Mexican city.
2003
Founding Member - The National Dual Language Consortium (NDLC)
John co-wrote the grant that initially funded foundation of NDLC that includes the Illinois Resource Center (IRC), the Center for for Applied Linguistics (CAL), Dual Language Education of New Mexico (DLENM), Association of Two-Way & Dual Language Education (ATDLE) & Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA).
2002
Lead Developer - Dual U: A Dual Language Teacher Training Curriculum
John lead a collaborative effort to create a comprehensive dual language teacher training curriculum with online components. Many of the Paridad associates were co-creators and contributors to this curriculum.
